The Platinum Jubilee Mulberry Candelabrum Commissioned by The Worshipful Company of Weavers 2023
The silhouette draws direct inspiration from the enduring form of the Mulberry tree - a symbol steeped in rich history, longevity and royal tradition. It is the source of the silk threads.
From silk threads to silver wire, honouring the sericulture lineage tied to the mulberry leaf, the piece is meticulously constructed with hand-drawn fine silver wire. The design captures the delicate fluidity of woven silk threads, translating soft textiles into solid, shimmering precious metal.
Each sconces is subtly wrapped in bound silver wire, resembling spun silk cocoons that cradle candlelight.
Silver in Motion: The Great Wave Candleholders 2025
Commissioned as a private piece to commemorate a personal achievement, this custom silver pair translates the ocean's raw energy and fluid grace into fine silverware.
Inspired by Hokusai’s iconic woodblock print, The Great Wave off Kanagawa, the design captures the precise instant a cresting wave shatters into intricate, airborne droplets. Finely textured lines wrap around the sterling form, mimicking flowing currents and giving the precious metal an unmistakable sense of dynamic motion.
Designed as a modular, two-part sculptural work, the pieces function both independently and as a unified ensemble holding three candles in total: The First Wave: A single candle holder, but larger, designed to embody the gathering swell, featuring delicate metalwork that branches into fine spray and water droplets. The Second Wave: dynamic holder crafted for two candles, mirroring the majestic, sweeping arch of a breaking swell.
When positioned together, the flowing contours meet seamlessly, transforming functional candleholders into an interconnected, dramatic seascape.
